We are working hard to build up Camping Fontebona. We? We are Astrid and Thomas. Do you like nature and culture, tranquility and space? Are you looking for a small-scale Spanish camping site? Then read on.

In these stressful modern times we are setting up a camp site where there is still time and space for tranquility and nature. Spain is renown for mass tourism and there hardly exists small-scale camp sites with a limited number of tent sites but plenty of space. In France and the Czech Republic, and also in our native country The Netherlands, this idea of “camping at the farm” has already been around for a long time and is proving to be quite successful.

We think Spain is ready to do things differently. In the Principality of Asturias, where the natural paradise, “el paraíso natural”, is eagerly emphasized, there is still room for a natural camp site on a small and sustainable scale. Our plan includes 32 sites. Of these, 30 sites are designated for tents. The remaining two sites are reserved for disabled persons.

Camping Fontebona is located close to the National Park Picos de Europa and the Natural Parks and Nature Reserves Ponga, Sueve and Redes. But cities and the beach are close by as well. Infiesto, a small rural municipality with all basic amenities, is 4 km from the camp site.

grounds and the surrounding area

The grounds are situated on a slope with deciduous forest, pasture and a stable. The camp site design merges into ints surrounding environment and consists of deciduous forest, interspersed with grassy meadows, barns and stables. You have the possibility of taking relaxing walks from Fontebona, but you can also go for long beautiful day hikes. On the routes you find picturesque little villages like El Vallín/Belonciu (1 km), Llozana and L'Oteru (1,25 km), and Samartín and San Vicenti de Berbio (1,5 km).

target clientele

We presume the following people will be attracted to our camp site:

• nature lovers (hikers, bird-watchers, cyclists, anglers, etc.)
• people over 30, with or without children
• pensioners
• townsfolk and specific groups looking for tranquility and relaxation

how

Our campers will get information from us about local and regional nature and culture. We want to create an atmosphere in which our guests leisurely exchange knowledge and ideas with each other. Our neighbours also have a lot of knowledge they can share with our guests. Guests can learn about the old days in Asturias, about stock breeding, and about the local flora and fauna. We want the camp site to be a knowledge centre about culture and nature, where both locals and campers can learn from each other.

We think that tranquility (absolute silence from 23:00 to 7:00) and space are the greatest luxuries. We invest the utmost in providing this luxury. We put less emphasis on special facilities. Naturally there will be toilets, showers and a little shop-bar-restaurant. Good but simple is our emphasis. It’s just that there won’t be a swimming pool or a tennis court. On the other hand, there will be a simple recreation area.

Car traffic is not allowed (and quite impossible) on the camp site. We can transport your tent and other luggage to your sites by donkey.
